Quality Trumps Price When Seniors Buy Hats

Men's Wigens Shearling Ivy Cap - The Gustav at HartfordYork.com In a CNBC article, Splurging in Retirement, Colleen Kane looks at the reasons that might make seniors on fixed budgets spend a little more.

Paying more for quality is something any smart shopper will opt for if possible, but seniors tend to be the most insistent group on this point — and that search for quality is evident right across the board, from services like life insurance to retail items such as hats and accessories.

We certainly see this trend at HartfordYork.com, where many of the people who purchase hats are seniors. They may wait for sales, free shipping offers and/or other specials to make the purchase more budget-friendly, but seniors are definitely buyers who look for quality first. They are also loyal to brand names and retailers with whom they have built relationships, a trait that makes senior customers very much valued.

The hat mentioned in the CNBC article (and shown here) is The Gustav from Wigens of Sweden, a well-know and well-respected hat manufacturer. Although it’s a pricier cap as caps go, it’s also made to last in high quality leather and is lined for warmth, with drop-down ear flaps, which means it’s versatile and may be used in many weather conditions. In other words, this ivy cap for men has got the classic style, warmth and durability seniors prefer in winter hats plus it’s a quality piece from a trusted name.

What’s not to love?

National Hat Day and Hat Person of the Year

Well, it’s that time of year again! National Hat Day approaches and with it The Headwear Association would like your vote for the Hat Person of the Year.

Last year, Brad Pitt took the honors, but he’s not even in the running this time. In the men’s corner for the 2011 Hat Person of the Year, the nominees are:

Hugh Jackman Johnny Depp Justin Timberlake

Cast your vote before January 15, 2011 on the homepage of The Headwear Association.

Wonder if some of the Glee cast will be featured next year? Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel, the beautiful boy with the voice of an angel, wears some pretty nifty hats in the show and Matthew Morrison (who is the teacher and Glee club leader, Will Schuester) seems to have an affinity for hats, even in his personal life.

Also wonder why Mad Men’s Don Draper (played by Jon Hamm) isn’t a nominee? The man can rock a fedora!
