Men’s Hats Called Magical Style Accessories

Men's Christys' Panama Hat - The Broad Brim Safari at HartfordYork.comYou won’t find me disagreeing in any way with a title that reads The Magic of Men’s Hats, especially when it’s at an anti-ageing sub-section of a Health feature publication. Of course, I think men of all ages look better in fedoras and caps than without; however, this article is directed at men over the age of 50.

Writer Liz Coggins talks about how men’s hair not only thins out with age, but how its texture changes and the color fades. She has recommendations as to more flattering cuts and the kinds of hair products to use which help add volume and luster, and then she gets into the really good stuff: how wearing the right hat “adds a sartorial elegance to any male.”

Body build and face shape are as important to looking good in a hat as choosing “the right hat for the right occasion”, she says. For example, a wide-brimmed Panama hat a good summer hat choice for men with large builds and somewhat round faces, whereas a smaller man should pretty much avoid large brims, looking for hats with stingy brims.

It’s also important to remember to match the hat to the occasion: a ball cap (even if it’s a designer cap) just does not make the grade if the occasion it’s worn to is anything more than casual or sporty.
