The Cost of Being Shy

Hartford York Hats - Men's Biltmore Fur Felt Porkpie - The PorkpieI came across an old Reader’s Digest article about shyness, and how it can be a pretty debilitating condition which apparently affects some 15% of us.

In addition to avoiding social situations like big parties and never making new friends, shy people have trouble at work when asked to give seminars, meet with clients or even associate with the boss.

Various methods are suggested to counteract this anxiety-based behavior, replete with pre-planning, observations and visualizations.
That’s all well and good, but what about the hat?

Hello, people! You slap on a hat, no need to say anything – people will approach you with compliments or questions. You’ll be engaged in discourses and forming new relationships without realizing what’s happening.

If you’re too shy to wear a hat, here’s one motivator for ya: anxiety disorder counselling now runs about 100 clams an hour.

Buy a hat. Get over it. Cheap.
