Illuminate Your Hat

Hartford York Hats and Accessories for Men and Women - Men's Stetson Newsboy - Wool Newsboy Cap - The Blue Whippet

Safety-minded students, pedestrians and cyclists are donning apparel that contains lighting technology – strips of light (not reflective material) which can penetrate the dark days of fall and accompanying weather conditions like fog.

According to a press release from Lands’ End, the technology is based on that used for airport landing strips, and can be seen three football fields away.

Jackets and backpacks are the most popular items to boast the electroluminescent light, but I’d like to see if the size of the power pack can’t be reduced (or remodelled) to microchip dimensions. Then my hat would be visible to everyone in a radius of three New York City blocks.

Of course, the next step is obvious – why not make my hat visible to everyone in the entire world?

We have the technology, people! (And the hats).
