Dig Them Hats

Hartford York Hats - Scala Twisted Seagrass Summer Hat - The LinksFritz Haeg wants to change America’s mind about the role of the front yard–by making it a garden of fruits and vegetables.

Reporter Lucinda Michele Knapp of the Los Angeles Alternative says Haeg turns “a previously useless suck of water and toil (either that of a gardener, or the suburban alpha male on his ride mower) into a little patch of earth that is productive, that brings people together, and that helps them re-learn a connection to nature and to one another.”

And it brings them together in hats. Gardening is a definite hat-wearing activity, so maybe – in addition to “reconciling global food production and land use issues”, people will start wearing hats again, en masse. In their Edible Estates.
